Archetypal Astrology Counselling in Edmonton

Archetypal astrology offers a symbolic framework for self-reflection and growth. Unlike pop culture horoscopes or predictive fortune-telling, archetypal astrology works as a long lineage of metaphor and myth. For many, astrology brings a sense of context and compassion—reminding us that our struggles are not random flaws but part of timeless archetypal themes. If astrology aligns as an existing part of your worldview, I am happy to include it’s sense of meaning in your life in a non-pathologizing way.

What Is Archetypal Astrology?

Archetypal astrology focuses on the symbolic rather than the predictive. Planets, signs, and aspects are understood as expressions of archetypes—timeless motifs that appear in myth, art, and story. This perspective draws on the insights of Carl Jung, Stephen Arroyo, Richard Tarnas, and others who have connected astrology to psychology, narrative, and cultural meaning.

  • Mars may represent drive, energy, and assertion.

  • Venus may symbolize connection, beauty, and harmony.

  • Saturn may embody responsibility, discipline, and limitation.

Your chart reflects the interplay of these archetypal patterns, offering a mirror of your psyche. The goal is not to define you but to expand the ways you can understand yourself and is only ever done so in a way that feels collaborative and client-led.

What to Expect in a Session

If you choose to integrate archetypal astrology into our work, here’s how we might approach it:

  • Consent & Clarity: Astrology is not an evidence-based psychological intervention, but a language of reflection and narrative meaning making we can explore together if it something that already resonates with you and feels like an affirming way of understanding you and your worldview.

  • Relating Archetypes to Your Story: We’ll discuss these symbols as metaphors that may or may not resonate with your lived experience—your perspective always comes first.

  • Integrating Insights: If a theme feels meaningful, we’ll connect it to your broader goals in therapy, whether through journaling prompts, mindfulness, or narrative reframing.

A Note on Ethics

Archetypal astrology is offered as an optional, client-led exploration tool that can support self inquiry, not as a diagnostic method or psychological intervention. I am not a professional astrologer – my role as a therapist is to hold space for your preferred ways of making meaning and if archetypal symbolism enriches your process, we can integrate it.

This offering also acknowledges that many ancestral and Indigenous traditions honor cyclical, symbolic ways of knowing. Creating space for astrology in a reflective, client-led manner can be one way to decolonize the therapeutic encounter and reconnect with non-linear, meaning-rich traditions.
