Archetypal Astrology Counselling
Archetypal astrology offers a symbolic framework for self-reflection and growth. Unlike pop culture horoscopes or predictive fortune-telling, archetypal astrology works as a living language of metaphor and myth. It invites you to see your life through universal patterns that have been recognized across cultures for thousands of years.
For many, this symbolic approach brings a sense of context and compassion—reminding us that our struggles are not random flaws but part of timeless archetypal themes. By exploring your chart, we can open new perspectives on your inner world, your patterns, and your path forward.
What Is Archetypal Astrology?
Archetypal astrology focuses on the symbolic rather than the predictive. Planets, signs, and aspects are understood as expressions of archetypes—timeless motifs that appear in myth, art, and story.
Mars may represent drive, energy, and assertion.
Venus may symbolize connection, beauty, and harmony.
Saturn may embody responsibility, discipline, and limitation.
Your chart reflects the interplay of these archetypal patterns, offering a mirror of your psyche. The goal is not to define you but to expand the ways you can understand yourself.
This perspective draws on the insights of Carl Jung, Stephen Arroyo, Richard Tarnas, and others who have connected astrology to psychology, narrative, and cultural meaning.
How Archetypal Astrology Counselling Can Help
For clients drawn to symbolic or spiritual frameworks, archetypal astrology can:
Illuminate Patterns: Reframe struggles as part of larger archetypal themes, reducing shame and fostering compassion.
Shift Perspective: See your life challenges as part of a meaningful story rather than isolated problems.
Support Intuition and Creativity: Access insights through metaphor, imagery, and symbols.
Honor Cycles and Transitions: Recognize the natural rhythms of growth and change (such as Saturn returns or midlife shifts) without pathologizing them.
You don’t need to “believe” in astrology for it to be useful. Many find that symbols spark intuitive insight in ways that analysis alone does not.
What to Expect in a Session
If you choose to integrate archetypal astrology into our work, here’s how we might approach it:
Consent & Clarity: Astrology is not an evidence-based psychological intervention, but a reflective tool we can explore together if it resonates with you.
Exploring Your Chart: Using your birth date, time, and location, we can reflect on symbolic themes such as your Sun, Moon, and Rising signs, elemental balance, and planetary aspects.
Relating Archetypes to Your Story: We’ll discuss these symbols as metaphors that may or may not resonate with your lived experience—your perspective always comes first.
Integrating Insights: If a theme feels meaningful, we’ll connect it to your goals in therapy, whether through journaling prompts, mindfulness, or narrative reframing.
A Note on Ethics
Archetypal astrology is offered as an optional, client-led exploration tool, not as a diagnostic method or psychological intervention. My role as a therapist is to hold space for your preferred ways of making meaning. If archetypal symbolism enriches your process, we will integrate it. If not, we continue with evidence-based approaches such as parts work, somatic therapy, and narrative therapy.
This offering also acknowledges that many ancestral and Indigenous traditions honor cyclical, symbolic ways of knowing. Creating space for astrology can be one way to decolonize the therapeutic encounter and reconnect with non-linear, meaning-rich traditions.
